How Does Social Bookmarking Affect Google Ranking? »

If you are an online entrepreneur then it is imperative that you promote your site well. And no internet marketing or online promotion strategy is completely successful without a high ranking in the search engines, especially Google. One of the most effective ways to boost traffic to your site is to get into social bookmarking.

It is now a revealed wisdom that in order to get high rankings in search engines, a website must have lots of quality inbound links. And social bookmarking is one of the most effective ways to do just that. It is a web-based service that allows users to store or save lists of links to various web pages that they find useful. Other users with similar interests can view the links by topic, category, tags, or even randomly.

These social bookmarking sites have the potential to direct hundreds or thousands of targeted visitors to your site within a very short time.  It is also evident that higher and more successful Google ranking might be done on the basis of those pages that users find interesting on social bookmark sites.

To promote your site and business to specific target audience, you must begin submitting articles to the social bookmark sites as soon as you can. Make sure it has good content also, so that others will want to link up with you, and you will be listed on many other pages as well.

Page rank is a statistical assessment used by Google that signifies how popular a site is on the web. Google assumes that when one page links to another site, it is in fact casting a vote for the other site. More votes imply more popularity of the site. Also, the ranking of the site that is casting the vote determines how important the vote itself is. Google calculates a site’s importance from the number of votes cast for it.

The fundamental concept behind social bookmarking is that when thousands of people get together, bookmark their desired sites, and employ explicatory tags to each page that they bookmark, some websites will ascend to the top as being more popular. Other users in the network then refer to those pages. Consequently the posting of the links multiply. This in turn amplifies the page ranking.

Successful social bookmarking is a definite key for high Google ranking. Hence it is just not enough to get the URL of your site into the pages of social bookmarking sites. You need to take care of proper content and avoid spamming. You have to focus on getting more traffic by following some essential tips.

- Quality content: Since users are the determiners in the case of link referrals it is extremely essential to have proper content. Interesting topics that can attract a lot of targeted users is what you should aim for. Make sure that your information resources have high visibility on your site.

- Search Engine Optimization: You must follow the search engine optimization tips to make your article accessible to a user. Keyword optimization and target ranking are some of them.

- Social bookmarking buttons: You must make it easier for users to bookmark you. It means that you should create links that keep the number of clicks to a minimum while guiding the user to your page.

How To Protect Your Identity And Personal Information On Social Networking Websites »

It is a very widely known fact that social networking websites like MySpace, Orkut and Facebook are an excellent way of keeping in touch with friends and family, but at the same time what many people fail to realize is that these social networking websites also pose a serious threat in terms of identity theft. This article discusses a few great tips that help protect your self from online identity theft without taking out the fun part from social networking websites.

Social networking websites are accessible to any tom, dick and Harry who has a computer and an internet connection at his or her disposal. Thus, any and all information you enter into your social networking profile is easily available through the various search options provided by such social networking websites. Most people do not go ahead and enter their real postal addresses into their profiles, but they do tend to put in other personal information like their birthdays, where they were born and brought up, full names, and so on. But, they fail to realize that sometimes this kind of information available on your profile on social networking websites may also be used by online predators and other such professional identity thieves to access more personal details of your life.

One of the better ways and one of the simplest ones, to protect your social networking profile is to set your personal profile to private. Most social networking websites like Orkut, Facebook, MySpace, etc. provide this feature, which allows a user to control who can access your personal social networking profile and who cannot. When you have set this option to private, you only allow your personal friends access to your information. Thus you succeed at reducing the risk of identity theft greatly and at the same time you still have fun with social networking.

Another easier way to protect your online social networking profile is to refrain from divulging any and all kind of private and personal information, while creating an online social networking profile. This includes not posting your address, telephone number, and other such information on pages that are accessible to, not only you, but the rest of the world too. A good example of identity theft in this case would be, for e.g.: You write a message on your MySpace social networking profile page, something like this “off to Hawaii for a vacation, write back ASAP” – this kind of post will not only heighten the risk of identity theft, but will also give the identity thief the knowledge that you are out of town for vacation and there is no one home. Armed with this information, someone can rob you or worse. Hence, do refrain from posting critical information on your social networking profiles.

Last but not the least; do think before posting anything online. Maybe, ask yourself this, whatever information you are posting on a social networking website, would you want the same information to be printed on flyers and distributed all throughout the world. If the answer is no, in which case you should refrain from posting the information or maybe change it in a manner that it does not divulge something you don’t want the world to know.

The Impact of a Social Network »

Through social networking and web 2.0 one can expand one’s business, and increase social contacts by making connections through other individuals. It refers to structural characteristics such as proximity to others, frequency of social contact and the type of relationship one is in. Social networks represent both a collection of ties between people and the strength of those ties. Social networking establishes interconnected Internet communities that help people make contacts that would be good for them to know, but that they were unlikely to have met otherwise.

Through social networking sites people not only interact to each other, they also share photos, music, TV clips.  In this way social networks are used by companies in order to promote their brands or products. Joining a social networking site is one of the best and easiest ways of advertising your business absolutely free. It is a great method of increasing your client base and you are not even restricted by geographical boundaries. So while you can make a community of local businesses in order to garner your local target customer, you can also join communities of other similar businesses in order to be visible to the overseas buyer who is in another country or continent.

There are several advantages of social networking in an internet marketing exercise.

-Most social networking websites are free of charge so there is less financial strain when you are trying to reach out to a larger audience.

-This is a great word of mouth promotion. The internet is a vast and potentially powerful tool when dealing with the masses.

-People who use social networking as a promotion tool, have complete control over their style or image that is created.

However, you need to aware of the obvious disadvantages of a social networking campaign before you venture into it -

-The target audience is not always selective and there can be a distinct lack of privacy.

-If not used properly to build a positive image it can be your downfall, as word of mouth can also be viewed as a negative reaction if the niche groups are not harmonious. It can be very difficult to retract a negative image from the public.

So, You Want To Compare MySpace To Friends Win? »

I’ll admit it… I was late starting my page on MySpace.
Once I did get though, it was fun, at least for a little while. New, exciting and I found all kinds of interesting people to network with! Pretty quickly though I got sick of the site loading pages so slow, the half naked women wanting to be my friend and when I went to their page it was just an ad for a porn site! I mean what is up with all of the spam there?

I’ve always wondered what it was like in the first days of MySpace. I’ve thought about how it felt to have a site that worked most of the time and I’ve wondered how it would be now if I had been one of the first in MySpace and they paid a commission! Do you think that I would be a millionaire by now? I think that I would, several times over!

The fact is that I’ve been looking for something different than MySpace for some time now. Facebook you say? You like Facebook? Contrary to the praises that are sung and the glory that is placed upon Facebook, I just do not see that the site is very user friendly.
A friend of mine told me about the Friends Win and I joined it because they recommended it to me. After looking around and checking it out for a day or so, I can actually say that I love the concept! They are bringing things to the internet that have never been done before. It’s will have everything in video something that MySpace does not have. Video profiles, video dating, video resume’s, video conferencing, and sooo much more! If you refer people to Friends Win and you are an IMR (Independent Marketing Rep.), you can make money. Yes, Friends Win is going to blow all other social networking sites out of the water! Think MySpace on steroids.

Will they have some growing pains? Sure, but we have some of the best people on the net in our corner!

Just watch this webinar and you will see just how exciting this social networking site is going to be! http://s205925028.onlinehome.us/friendswin/fwpres/fwpres.html

A New Leader In Social Networking »

There is a new leader in the social network game. It is also the fastest growing social network on record. The new site on the block is Friends Win. From Aug 3rd. to Sept. 14th. There have been over 6800 IMR’s (Independent Marketing Rep.’s) get onboard to promote Friends Win when they officially open to the public!

What Is Friends Win? It’s a web 2.0 site in the sense that it relies on the contributions from thousands of internet users to build up a social network. The difference between Friends Win and, say, MySpace is that  it’s like MySpace on steroids! We have combined the 4 fastest growing industries on the internet today in one site, social networking, online dating, job hunting, and internet marketing. Plus we have made them all video based!

There’s no one out there doing anything like it and I took a look at the Alexa ranking for Friends Win (Alexa gives you a ranking of the popularity of a site) and it seems to be moving very fast although it is in it’s very early stage. Take a look for yourself and see the traffic rank of Friends Win it will be climbing off of the charts!

FriendsWin traffic rank in other countries:

Canada-15,699
United States-16,801
Philippines-25,097
Australia-25,965
United Kingdom-29,683

And this is out of millions of sites on the internet today!

One of the more powerful aspects of Friends Win is that you make money when people you recommend to Friends Win sign up too - like a network marketing arrangement but crucially without the need to pay anything to join, it’s free. It all goes down 8 levels and how hard is it to invite people to a social network? If you want to make money, just sign up as an IMR.

So where’s Friends Win going? I don’t know yet, but we’ll probably know in a few weeks time and personally, I think it is going to blow every other social networking site out there away! The crucial factors will be the popularity of the interface and site functionality and how quickly it builds critical mass.

Only time will tell whether our video based social network is attractive to a wide range of users.

Worth a look at this stage if you wish to broaden your income stream and get in on a winner early on.

You have to become a part of a social network, when you create links in social networking sites, so make sure that you create your own personal profile before you begin this exercise. Your profile has to be the one that is appealing to other people, especially to the sites different members so do not forget to use the profile to express a little something about yourself too.
